Default EVGA Motherboards

Why is alot of folks migrating to EVGA? Isn't Asus the company people look too for gaming boards?

I heard EVGA has good boards but nothing like the P5N or P5B series.

I go by whats been hot all these years and what OEM's follow like Falcon, And alienware who use ASUS.

AFAIK, it's not EVGA that makes the motherboards, it's Nvidia. Evga just puts their name on it.

AFAIK, EVGA contracts out the manufacturing. They do spec some components as well. My NF41 is actually a Jetway board, but with higher quality caps, etc.

This could be true as well. I always thought Nvidia made the reference design then EVGA just rebadges it basically. I remember hearing the Evga NF4 is a jetway somewhere.

I thought alienware used their own boards.
(I thought they were a board partner to nvidia)
Whose power supplies do they use?

I think the current EVGA board is manufactured by foxcon. (just like all the BFG board)

I have owned mostly ASUS boards, and to be honest their quality controls sucks ass. I've had more problems with their boards than any. Then again I've owned a LOT of asus boards versus just a few from MSI and EVGA.

Not had a single problem from my current board. (680i EVGA)

People know ASUS, and they been doing it for 18 years. Now Gigabyte is damn good. They been in the biz for 21 years. I used Gigabyte boards and had no probs with them.

Once the tech starts showing up evenly distributed among the boards offered you look for the quality of components and the implementation of the bios for the things you want and need. Sometimes you would be suprised who comes out ahead in giving you what you want.

Manufactures seemingly have their own cycles of crap. I remember when DFI was the equivalent of an ECS and ECS never thought of making anything costing more than the budget sector would allow.

Asus was a nice maker when they first opened up for a few years, then the quality fell off, now they are getting back into a good position.

All EVGA does is contract someone out to make their products, specifying components and performance along the way. It's a very smart move that relieves them of tons of liability and is just a win-win for whomever they contract with too.
