When in desktop, is your cpu usage constantly low or it is jumping from time to time.

Also do you use beagle?

Yeah cpu is normaly low(in desktop), and no, no beagle

Oh, yeah CPU temp, I read _GPU_ temp... my bad

running besides UT? well, not much
I have tried KDE with konqueror, KDE without konqueror, and fluxbox(!), without anything else, all the same results... No server(deamons) in the background...

One thing I notised, while watching 'top' during install, was that once in a while, the setup process spiked the cpu, and the progress indicator stoped for a while, and then continued at normal speed for a while, kind of how the game behaves, so maybe it has something with cpu-scheduling to do?

I use Debian 4.0r0(etch), and the 2.6kernel that came with it:
Linux debian 2.6.18-4-686 #1 SMP Mon Mar 26 17:17:36 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

And yeah, I turned of transparency in KDE(I used AllowGLXWithComposite), but now I turned of the COMPOSITE extension in xorg.conf all toghether, but no positive response...

Bizzare. Log out from desktop, stop any login managers. This is normally done by logging out and then pressing ctrl+n (if using kdm).
Log in as root and enter:
#init 3

log out and login as normal user.
Run ut2k4 from pure console:
#xinit /usr/local/games/ut2004/ut2004

After testing, log out and relogin as root and enter:
#init 5 && logout
to start graphical env.

Well, it was alt+n but no, after circa 2 minutes the first freeze/hickup happens... its ALWAYS about 2 minutes in to the game when the first happens, then the others come with circa 1 minute inbetween... :/

Does it only happens with ut2k4? Have you tried doom3 or something else?

do you have any hiccups outside of gaming? Maybe while watching video?

Something that might show the problem, without the nvidia driver loaded. Because if it is there, without the nvidia-driver, it should be someones else problem - aka lkml
