Default Re: performence issues with ut2004

I have this problem too with a 7600GS and 64-bit Gentoo. It also happened with my 6600GT (both PCI-e). My resolution is at 1680x1050, which plays well, but I get constant stopping of the game. I seem to remember that turning the options way down fixed it, but I shouldn't have to do this. I assume it's some problem that has gone unfixed between the game and the drivers, since no other game has problems--the quakes and wine all run fine.

I run ut2k4 at high settings and 1280x1024 (geforce 6600gt) and there is no hitching. Do you have latest patch available?

You download patch, extract archive and copy files to respective locations.

I havent tried the patch yet, well I did but it f***ed up my ut-installation, guess I wasnt paying attention to what I did...

I can put a nail in the coffin for CPU thermal throttlig thou... I was watching a dvd from a file image with ogle, and after a while the kernel spat out a warning for CPU thermal throttling and modulated clock speed, but no such messages from kernel while playing UT2004...

Well, I guess somethings wrong with my installation, cus I applied the 3369-2 patch and got this message when trying to launch the game:

"./ut2004-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

Whats your CPU temperature under load? Try to compile something and read the temperature.

Installed sensors but cant se temp, only clockspeed:/
and I dont have any temp info in /proc/acpi/thermal_zones, so I guess my kernel cant se temp, only level of throttling in /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/throttling, so im writting a shellscript that outputs the throttling level every 3-4 seconds, and se what happens when the game freezes
