You have to load modules manually, first time. At least in suse, at next boot lmsensors script kicks in and loads everythiing automatically.
Have you executed:
#sensors-detect
as root?

yeah, i ran 'sensors-detect', and then modprobed what it suggested, but 'sensors' says it cant find any sensors...

well, at least, the cpu doesnt raise its throttle level in /proc/acpi/prossecor/CPU0/throttling, so i guess it doesnt throttle
