Default Logitech Mouseware 9.76 released

There's a new build of Mouseware available. No word that I could find on what's new, except for the fact that this download seems to be about 1.5 mb smaller than its predecessor.

Download here.

I think I'll pass on these as well....
I use the generic PS/2 mouse drivers, and it works a hell of a lot better than the Logi drivers, so what if I lose the task-switching button, it's worth the tradeoff...

This sucks.... why cant the jack asses make software that works????

I cant play half my games when I install mouseware, and when I dont use mouseware, the other half of my games dont work right...

WTF IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?

I just downloaded the new version and ALMOST installed it so I could MAYBE use the middle mouse button in some games (vietcong demo and BF1942), but after reading that it has absolutly NO bug fixes, I guess I'll just continue wondering why the f*ck these people even bother making awesome mice if their software team cant make the damn things work.

Excuse my language, but I have a $50 MX500 sitting on my desk here.... and as smooth as it moves, as accurate as the eye is... I cant even use the god damn thing in half my games (BF1942 is totaly screwed without the mouseware, and when I install mouseware, the game doesnt even run!!!).....

Oh well, glad I didnt have to pay for the mouse, I used a $50 amazon gift card :\

Does anyone know of a workaround for the BF1942 "infinite scroll" bug and for the inability to bind the middle button in some games?

Iv'e been using the 9.76 drivers for a while with no problems in any games. (Got MX500) I don't have BF1942, but have not noticed any problems programming the middle button in any other games. There is a patch I installed from Logitech. It's called Game_Whl.reg . It's for Windows 95/98, and NT 4.0. Don't know if it'll help you, but it works for me.

Im THINKING about reinstalling it to get middle\wheel functionality in BF1942 and Vietcong. I had trouble with it in Arx Fatalis too, but thats not a big deal since its an offline RPG (I dont need the extra button or wheel.... its not that fast paced).

I just had so much damn trouble with the software acting screwy in other games.... I think it screwed up Half-Life too but I cant remember... if it screws up HL, then the Logitech software dept needs to be fired.

Woohoo!

One of Logitech's mistakes just FIXED all of my problems! I decided to take the plunge and install the mouseware, but the Mousware 9.76 installer wouldnt work(file copy error.. yes I tried downloading it again)! So I just extracted the files out of the self-extractor. The setup still wouldnt work, so I decided to just install the new mouse drivers. I went to device manager, went to my mouse, "update driver", pointed it to the Win98 folder in the mouseware folder... it found the drivers... ok good! I let them install, restarted the comp..... VOILA!!!!!!! NO MORE MOUSE PROBLEMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BF1942 doesnt have the infinite scrolling problem, I can bind the middle button (which uses the same bind as the VERY comfortable side button), Vietcong demo works perfect too!

YAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!

And there isnt any stupid software to fiddle around with either!

Anyone having any problems with their MX500, go to Logitech's website and download the new mouseware. Extract the file using winzip (DONT RUN IT) by right clicking on it and going to "winzip".

Then install the drivers like I said above!

IT WORKS!!!!!!

I cant believe that they screwed up the installer... but whats even more amazing is that the new drivers work flawlessly!
Thanks Logitech! Now just let us download mouse drivers WITHOUT mouseware... it would make things a lot easier.

WOOHOO!

Something must have been screwed up with his download, but that's not the point. Methinks I'll try this method with me MX700. Thanks for the tip.

Ive been thinking about how great it would be if I could use ALL of my fancy buttons in my games... I wish I could figure out what is wrong with the mouseware installer

Logitech has deffinitly redeemed themselves here.... I mean, they actually fixed all my problems!
... but it would be nice to be able to use ALL of my buttons with mouseware (now that the drivers work)... I get an msvcrt.dll file error. It happens at 96% of the mouseware installer and I cant get around it.

Ive attached a pic of the error if you think it helps.

Thanks

(BTW, im going to bed now... I'll check for responses tomorrow after school)
