I'm highly considering going CrossFire with two 2900XTs.

Wait, when soft-shadows and anti-aliasing, one or the other doesn't work, or when I have gotten it to work, ligths n stuff flicker.

Yes , soft shadows & FSAA are not compatible with each other in FEAR. its an engine limitation.
thats why you get shadow flickering when you enable both at once.

No, you see, the first post in this thread said to use 4x anti-aliasing and soft-shadows. See the contradiction?

Well, I installed the game again (don't really play it much after seeing the cheesy end, that and having to play the game with no speech, as the language is quite bad in it).

Basically, for some weird reason, anti-aliasing kept sticking and wouldn't turn off, in-game or even when I forced it off in the control panel (158.22 WHQL / XP32 driver here). So basically, got up from my PC while the benchmark ran, came back, and the program had froze. I tried it like 3-4 x, and anti-aliasing would still stay on and the shadows would flicker. I guess I gotta download all the patches again.

Just wondering how much my rig could go... found it to be pretty much overkill, though.

2048x1536 16QAA 16AF SSAA No SS everything maxed.

The performance test felt very sluggish (like dropping some frames) and the results do not match what i saw on the screen, very strange.

Not much difference between minimum and average, but why??

And then...

2048x1536 16AA 16AF SSAA No SS everything maxed.

Highest quality setting I could run without hitching was 2048x1536 8QAA 16AF SSAA No SS maxed, this time the test
felt smooth all the way, see below:

Playing the game was a different story. Measuring with Fraps the game was ramdomly going below 30 in the most intense
fire fights, however watching the game at that res and settings is a sight to behold

All this under XP x64.
