I hate them, you really don't even know how bad. If you think I get torqued up about Linux vs Win32 you should see what I feel about spam. Just even talking about it now has raised my blood pressure.
AHAHAHAAA! That right there landed you my vote!

Seriously, fair enough, I need some brother-in-arms, we'll try to tackle the Win32 users who have no f'n idea their box is compromised and are the very same chitbags who are assaulting this forum with spam.

PS; today was Krispy Kreme free donut day and if you missed out on your donut I'd be more than happy to make your mouth look like a glazed donut. chowned.

It's pretty easy to deal with this problem.

On osnn, we simply imposed a post approval policy.

First time users have to be approved before their posts are visible to anyone but the moderators with priveledges.

/me hugs vbulletin.

I am sure mike and the admins on this board can implement a similar policy.

That again requires the Mods and Admins to work extra to police and babysit the newbs. A simple 10 post min prior to posting links would solve the issue.

Careful that it doesn't get stuck between your teeth as well.

Not really.

You'd be surprised at how easy it is and how effective to have an over-view of the initial posts and it is a 1 (or 2) click process to approve.

Having a 10 post minimum is counter-productive when you consider the sheer number of new users coming in asking for help. You are essentially asking them to spam 10 posts in order to post links asking for help?

See the issue?

What about we do the same as is done in the For Sale/Trade forum. One can only make a transaction there if he has been a member for at least 6 months.

What if members can only post links if they have been a member for at least say 1 month. Maybe this can be linked with a minimum count of say twenty posts. I think this can be a very good deterent.
