Default second screen is dark

Setup:
Ubuntu 7.04
Toshiba Tecra M3
2 Screens: external one (1280x1024), internal laptop one (1024x768)

Used nvidia-settings to setup as two separate screens. Second screen (screen 1 - the laptop screen) is blank. I run applications with DISPLAY set to ":0.1" and they run - they think there's a second screen on my laptop, but I can't see anything. Any ideas?
