I tried upgrading to 100.14.03 with my FX4500 and when I then tried to start X it failed because it couldn't validate any modes at all - even the auto-detect one.
I then switched back to 97.55 and everything was fine again. I'll post a bug report later if needed, but perhaps this is a known issue - it isn't hard to reproduce. :-) By comparision, my laptop with a 6600go works ok with these drivers.

I'm not able to reproduce this with 100.14.03 and a Quadro FX 4500, and I've not seen any other reports of this problem from anyone else using that combination. This is almost definitely specific to the display device that you're using. You'll need to provide a verbose bug report if you'd like further assistance.
Thanks, Lonni |

Please remove all of the following options from xorg.conf and retest:

Removed with no change. :-(
I've attached a bug report generated without those options set.

You've not removed all the options that I requested.

Well, they're all gone this time, but no change in behaviour.

What happens if you explicitly request modes in the Screen section of xorg.conf ?

No change. I've attached another bug report for when I ran X with --verbose 6. It shows the EDID validation occuring but there's no additional information to explain why it thinks the GPU doesn't support the mode.

Lonni,
Any ideas? Have you been able to repro this in house? Thanks,

I'm afraid not. This problem appears to be specific to your environment.

Well, I tried again with 100.14.06 with no change.
I've attached the latest log - it's a very simple device configuration and verbose=6. *sigh*
