Default How to Disable Cool n Quiet but not in BIOS?

This P.O.S. work PC is a HP with no option to disable CnQ in BIOS (which is one of my normal BIOS options to turn off). Is there an AMD utility that could disable it or is it as simple as a different power scheme? A 2.4ghz throttling down to 900 when I am trying to work on it really aint cool.

Oh yea:

HP Compaq dc5750 Microtower
Athlon AM2 3800+ (single core)
1gb DDR2

You can do this in Vista's Power Options. In the Advanced Options, set CPU power settings in the Minimum usage to 100%. Or select High Performance profile.

Different power scheme, or you could try to uninstall the AMD CPU driver.

You do realize however that when your CPU NEEDS the power it WILL get it even with CnQ enabled, right? CnQ kicks in only when the CPU is idle AFAIK.

Why there is one. CnQ doesn't work without the driver, be it for single core or dual core.

This isn't a Vista machine.

I wish it would kick in when needed. I go to load something and even have stuff running in the background and it still doesn't go to 100%. CnQ flat out blows for anything but laptop usage IMO. I set my power scheme to "Home / Office Desk" and I think that may have done it for me, but I am not sure. I was under the impression that "Minimal Power Management" was the best option, but I guess not.

You won't get 100% CPU utilization unless your're doing some heavy encoding/decoding/packing/etc.

Home/Office = CnQ off
Portable/Laptop or Minimal Power Management = CnQ

It seems the threshold is way too high for CnQ to be more useful than it is a hindrance.

No, I was talking about CPU utilization regardless of whether CnQ is enabled or disabled...

I know, that's why I am saying I wish it wouldn't have to hit 100% to change gears. That's like redlining your car before you shift regardless of how far the pedal is down.

And this is the CnQ driver in all its glory:

That driver has been installed for a while now.
