If it was really running at 300/300, there would be no way you'd get even close to 4000. Sounds like you might have AA or AF on, or a bad card.

It's opinions. Some people like to spend more money and by slow hardware. You need to respcect that. Albeit they're crazy.

I wouldn't take a GeforceFX over a Radeon 9700 Pro, but the GeforceFX does 2xAA very well, and at 1600 x 1200 with 2xAA the jaggies are gone and it has better performance then the 9700. Some people like that.

I'm not a GeforceFX fan, I'm just giving it a fair shot, it has some positives...

The radeon 9700 pro is right here next to me and I could use it again maybe. Why did I buy a gffx ultra 5800?, becasue the mobo I had asus p4s8x did not work at all with the card. So I tried my hand at gffx. Im not a ati or nvidia fan just want the best graphics I can get. I havent had the gffx long enough to say which is better I just installed today. Why I respect your opinion but theres no need to cuss.

Thanks ATI LoVeR 9700 for the format info.

Doesn't 3DMark's system info detection tool gather its info before the 3D tests start? In which case the card would still be in 2D mode and report a speed of 300 MHz.

As for the Performance Analyser, that's based on 3DMark2001 data. Are there enough results in the database for the 5800 Ultra? If not you can't get a sensible result out of it, because it won't be able to recognise which card you have.

well i have a geforcefx. i use the same drivers and have a much slower processor... and i get nearly 1500 more 3dmarks... its something with your system, try to format your system, especially when switching from ati to nvidia

The problem may be the SiS chipset, you may need to upgrade the chipset drivers.

I've never been a fan of Sis chipsets, most of the time they are slower and with stability problems.

The P4S533 is a terrible performer. I'm not surprised at all that you couldn't use your radeon9700 at all.

An intel 845-E is a much better solution. Since you got a GeforceFx you may want to invest in a much better motherboard.

you have to use a the sis miniport agp driver... 1.14 is the latest.

When in doubt RTFM!!!!

btw the sis 645dx and 655 chipsets are great performers unless you happen to be unlucky enough to have the asus board you do. Do a search on any tech based bord and you will find many a hundred unhappy users.

Your best bet for help is asusboards.com(not affiliated with asus) message board. lots of knowledgeable people who will be more than happy yo help you out.

Actually 1.15 WHQL'd sis AGP miniport drivers have recently been released.

http://download.sis.com/sisdlc/driver_list.jsp

I'd definitely consider selling whichever video card you end up decide not to go with and buy yourself another m/b with an intel chipset.

The sinxp 1394 mobo so far is stable. I built the system yesterday. Looking aroung this board has the most features of any. Im not sure why you guys dont like sis chipsets in my opinion its ths sorry engineering of asus that caused the problems when I had the p4s8x and radeon 9700 pro together. Now that being said Im a middle of the road pc guy and dont claim to be an expert and certainly not a novice. Ill check out if sis have any updated drivers for this board. Did anyone ever fing out if 3dmark takes a picture of your video card before it runs?????? Out

I can't find the asus p4s533-vx, there are only MX, X, E and VM on Asus site.

Please don't tell me its the one with both DDR and SDR slots.

I think that if you are willing to spend 400+bucks for a vidcard, you also want it to perform at its full potential, and the SiS chipset is definitely not the best solution.

Ok heres the deal, definately reformat and reinstall windows, i had to after switching from my 9700pro to the fx ultra and everything is great now. Also as others have said you must make sure all your drivers are up to date as well as your bios. As far as the fx bashing goes , it never ceases to amze me how some ati fanatics will just hang around fx forums like vultures waiting to flame. W/ that said, it should be known that i own a 9700pro and fx ultra , and with the new nvidia 43.45 drivers i have beaten my highest bench in 3dmark03 that was obtained w/ my 9700pro.With these drivers i.q as well as performance has been increased. And while before i have had thoughts of putting my 9700pro back in, now i am more than content with the fx and will most likely put my 9700pro in my secondary rig. It seems as though they are now just really starting to tap into the fx 's capabilites through the drivers. flame on ati fanatics if ya want but realize, they are both great cards.
btw, 3dmark does collect info on the card before 3d mode kicks in and this is why it is showing 2d mode clock speeds!
