Why not simple release a fixed Beta driver, instead such a blody workaround ?

as we all know, beta drivers tend to be less stable than released drivers. now all people would want this new driver even if it's beta, since it's the only one that will appear to work, while any of the other aspects of that new, unreleased driver might still be very unstable (i guess macbookpro support isn't what they work on all day). this would not make your experiance more pleasant with an overrushed beta driver release.

we just need to be patient now.. there's even an easy workaround, that will make the waiting less long..

Mark it as beta/unstable and hide the download option somewhere save.
Open a public bugtrack system if you care about reports and fixing.

This is a patch for the kernel driver as a temporary workaround.
So there is no need to start the X server with the nv driver and then
with the nvidia driver. The macbook pro suspends and wakes up, but
the screen stays black.

It only works when X is running, with nvidia driver.
After wakeup, change to console and back two times. Console is still broken.. :-/

To the nvidia-devs: Does the current driver support power management for the card? Will the next one? The battery should hold more than twice the time it does now and the graphics chip is probably the biggest factor.

It also works on my 15" MBP! I hope the new drivers version will be published soon.

It seams NVIDIA is ignoring the new MBP Pro users. Still no new betadriver with propper support. Bad spotlight on the, normaly, good nvidia linux drivers.
