The import version that I bought last month needs a patch. The US version apparently already has the DX10 content in it.

Great review here:

http://www.destructoid.com/call-of-j...ce-30225.phtml

I just finished the demo and it left me hungry for more. It's weird how one person loves a game while another thinks it sucks.

I think this game has flaws (linear, scripted, etc) but the graphics are amazing and shooting people in this game is very satisfying. I'm buying it as asap.

Too bad it's not getting good reviews.

I like it. As a fan of first person shooters it is a nice change of scenery from the usual settings for these type of games. I can't wait to get my US copy in tomorrow. A friend of mine is getting my import copy as he is still running XP only.

I still can't find a patch anywhere as I was hoping they would release it since the US version is now out. I guess I have to wait another day.

So does the U.S version really have the DX10 content already in it ?

It's strange these forums aren't a buzz about it.

There was more hype regarding the Call of Juarez DX 10 Benchmark !!

Whaddup ? If I go pick up a retail copy of the U.S version will it have DX10 ??

Cheers.

I don't think a sole has purchased the US boxed version yet. Soon as someone in here does, I'm sure they'll post about DX12.

Darnit, You guys got me to sign up just to respond to this... I got my copy yesterday. Yes, it's DX10 and DX9 in the US shipped game that came out yesterday. I got mine at Bestbuy. I'm sure it's plenty of other places though (though I didn't see it at CircuitCity).

As for gameplay, well, I havn't played it yet in DX10 or DX9... Only installed it late last night and am working now, but I'm going to play it in just a bit. The DX10 benchmark worked just fine for me though. I could have wished for more, but it was about 35 average fps on maxed settings in 1024x768 and about 25 average under full settings on 1600x1200 with my 88GTX card. Not perfect but a good starting point. I'll post up more when I actually play this version.

After playing COJ demo I see that all those Crysis trailers weren't great because of dx10 but they were great because of Cryengine 2.

I tried the COJ benchmark before playing the demo. I was like, "wow, dx10 is so cool." But after playing the dx9 demo I see that the game engine is what made it look so cool. In dx9 I have the depth of field effect, moving tree leaf shadows, sunbeams, plenty of foliage, etc. I thought maybe the demo was dx10 until I checked the fireplace bricks.

DX10 only adds some subtle effects that you can only notice when standing still or taking screenshots. The only thing you notice about dx10 when you're actually playing is how slow your framerates is.

DX10 is just a little graphical polish which only people with 2x8000GTX+C2D@3.5GHz will use. What's the point of using dx10 if you have to scale back your resolution or move to medium/low settings?

DX10 requires a generation of GPU's that doesn't currently exist and a generation of games that have yet to even be designed. So yes, it was all M$ marketing hype.

SLI is not working for me with the DX10 version of the game so its basically unplayable at 1920x1200. SLI worked on the benchmark with the 158.45 drivers so hopefully someone here figures out a workaround or some new drivers fixes it.

Well you also have to consider that Techland just threw in these directx 10 features after they made the game. To be honest aside from the lighting, shadows, and foilage in Call of Juarez, I don't think the game engine is all that great! Load times are extremely long really despite whatever processor you have. The textures tend to look washy and not always mapped in the best way (for instance in some areas the rock textures bleed into the grass and just look kind of blurry and odd). The character models just look strange to me. Sort of Doom 3-ish in some ways. This one game is not really going to be the deciding factor whether directx 10 is going to make a real difference in the future.

Not to mention that ATI's HD 2900 XT seems to by far outperform NVIDIA's hardware (sometimes up to 2x) in this game in directx 10 mode because they were in bed with the developers not unlike NVIDIA with the Lost Planet demo...
