I don't think so. I've got lm_sensors running and my temps seem to be fine (M/B 43C, CPU 39C, Temp3? 42C). There aren't any obvious errors in my logs. Everything works great with 100.14.09 and only starts having problems when I upgrade to 100.14.11.

I have it disabled (as seen in Post 16 above) and it's still freezing on me with 100.14.11. I don't know what else to do.

I get freezes sometimes, I haven't figured out what triggers it but I do know that for example when I run compiz-icon (from the new compiz-fusion) Xorg freezes this way and emits SIGALRM over and over. Exporting LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 fixes it for me.
Edit: Not sure if it makes a difference, 7300GS and i386 machine.

I use tcsh so I placed the following in ~/.tcshrc:
Code:
setenv LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT 1
Then I rebooted to ensure it was setup in my environment when I logged into Gnome. Unfortunately, I still got a hang.

It may be important to point out that it's not just an X freeze. My entire machine hangs and does not respond to pings from other machines on the network. This would also explain why my mouse doesn't move when I get a hang.

Thank you very much to everyone that has offered their advice and help so far. I sure hope I can figure out why my machine hates 100.14.11 so much. Any other ideas?

I'm having the same problems - X freezing after a few minutes with 100.14.11 on an x86_64 Linux box. 100.14.09 was pretty stable for me. Usually I can still login via ssh but even that becomes impossible after a few minutes and the machine totally locks up.

One thing I did manage to cut and paste was the below in dmesg output. I've also seen similar in earlier drivers of the 97xx vintage. I'm also attaching the output from nvidia-bug-report.sh. The references therein to version 9755 are from the days I installed the driver manually rather than via livna.

...and of course, typically, after downgrading to the livna 100.14.09, X froze again. Nothing in the log files. The only clue is the X server was in state D and ps showed it was stuck in the usb_kill_urb routine, which makes sense as the the clock and other applets were still being updated and I could switch windows with the (PS2) keyboard, but the (USB) mouse was unresponsive.

So far the 96xx drivers have not locked up.

Hello,

I also have a similar problem, x freezes, can still move the mouse, sometimes it unfreezes, sometimes it doesn't. I started a thread here. I think it is conflict between ndiswrapper and the nvidia drivers. Is anybody else using ndiswrapper? It could also be a problem only with multicore processors.

I think I found a sollution, first make sure you are using 2.6.20 kernel (newer should also work, but didn't try it) and the latest bios for your motherboard. Then boot it with the following parameter: pci=usepirqmask.

I'm now using it for more then 2hours without freezes, and before this I run it a couple of hours in dual monitor mode for a couple of hours. But, when I open flash animations it sometimes freezes for a couple of seconds and then unfreezes again. Booting with nosmp could also help, but would give you a serious preformans downgrade.

UPDATE: still freezes after a while when watching flash movies.
I'm getting these errors:
Code:

Anybody knows what it means?
