In case anyone is interested I came across a Youtube video showing off Starcraft 2. You can see it here. Maybe old news, it was posted on the 12th I think...

Looks new to me, I haven't seen that. Man I can't wait for SC2! Hopefully it won't require a mega machine to run it . . .

I don't see what the big deal is. Looks like it has almost no innovation over Starcraft, besides being prettier.

Supreme Commander looks 10x as good as this. I hope they up the visuals some before they release it.

and if it's not fun, I definitely won't get it. If it is fun, though, I will get it more than likely.

SC is not even close to the same game. Imo, SC sucks is overrated, bland, slow and boring. As for Starcraft popularity. It sold like 10 million copies and in Asian countries has been a huge success it even has TV shows and major huge Tournaments even still! I liked it because it was unique and was fun to play. If it weren't for the lousy resolution I'd still play it. It's also rated one of the best games of all time. I don't know if I'd go that far, but it is what it is.

I thought that it was a video of Warcraft II.

Main reason why SC is so popular is because of how Blizzard still supports the game, ontop of that in Asian country's its almost like a religion.

That Twilight Archon reminds me a lot of the green thing in Warcraft 3 Lol I dunno you guys who say it looks just like SC are right, but thats not what SC was about. It was about the gameplay, but in no way does it look like SC 2 will revolutionize anything like Supreme Commander did.

Starcraft is the first RTS I've ever played and I still play it on and off every once in a while. Even with the same style of gameplay, it's still going to be a great game . . . not to mention great graphics from the looks of things.

Starcraft is the first RTS with sides who have non-identical units. And I mean all of them are non-identical, from the very bottom of the tech tree to the very top. Even the resource gathering units are also different.

The thing with Starcraft is that you can't just build into any given tech tree and be able to defend against practically anything, and having large amounts of the most powerful units does not guarantee victory, as somebody can take that out with relatively low tech/low power units if they play their cards right. Because of the many different gameplay mechanics involved, there are several ways to play the game, all without the requirement of setting different rules before the game starts.

This is why Starcraft is so popular, and thus far no other RTS has ever lived up to Starcraft. Not even WC3, which has strictly small army sizes, gay upkeep system, random map favors, etc, that many people don't like.
