Default 4096 pixel limitation still exists for Multi-GPU setups for G80?

Hi!

Quite some time ago, i had the chance to try out two 8800GTX for
a triple head setup with three 1600x1200 LCDs resulting in a desktop
resolution of 4800x1200 pixels. Everything worked pretty fine, except
that when a 3D windows got wider than about 4000 pixel, the
rendering become awfully slow (the driver probably switched to
software rendering).

From what i interprete from the README, the GeForce 8 series cards
should actually be capable of driving 3D windows up to 8192x8192 pixels?!

I'm currently using two 7800GTX cards with a documented 4096x4096
pixel limit for 3D windows (as far as i understand) and i always need
to start a 3840x1024 X-Server for fullscreen gaming. So my hope actually
was that two G80s could overcome the limit and i could do fullscreen
gaming at the "native" 4800x1200 resolution of the three displays.

Can anybody please confirm that this problem still exists or if it
has been fixed in recent drivers (unfortnuatly, i have the GeForce 8
series cards not around anymore for testing).

regards

Bernhard

Just to let you know, the limitation is definitly gone: it is possible to
play UT2K4 with three displays on two 8800GT cards at 4800x1200.

Wow. I'm having trouble maintaining stable 60 fps on ut2k4 with just 1920x1200, but then again I don't have two 8800GT installed.

Can you tell me how fast ut2k4 runs on your setup and what additional settings (FSAA etc) you use?

It's about 78 FPS at the crossfire timedemo, FSAA=1, no ANISO (Intel E8400, 2x 8800GT).

Although the UT2004 online client is kind of buggy (framerate cap changes randomly, from 83fps to 65fps - It's possibly kernel related, 2.6.16 was the last kernel which didn't do this), in standard offline DM (rankin) @ 1920x1200 with all high settings I get between 90->200fps on my 7600GT.
