About the Fraps problem, does it happen with a lower resolution too ? (640x480 f.e.). I remember that the game lags a lot too with VSync on. Just for example, the dilated perception effect, needs 12 extra passes to the scene, with blending operations. 12 passes * 3 surfaces * 1280x1024x32bpp *100fps = 18 GB/s, and this is without AA/Z/Stencil, and after the main scene is rendered.

Update 03/08/2007 (Version 0.9)
This new version adds enhanced dynamic shadows & reflections. Beyond FSAA, this is the first true quality enhancement, with respect to the default quality in the game. You can customize the quality of both features for proper performance & video memory usage. ![]() ![]() Thank you very much & enjoy playing with Rayne ! Note: I would like to update the main post.

Awesome to see such visual enhancements for a bargain bin title. Any word on how performance is affected by these enhancements? I'd imagine quite drastically.

In my tests, with my 8800GTX (615/2200) using 'BloodRayne2-SSAA' profile, @ 1280x1024, there were no performance hit, using 1024x1024 size for the dynamic shadows & reflections, and with FSAA activated for both.
With 2048x2048, there's a 10% performance hit +-, and with 4096x4096, around 30-40%. 1024x1024 is recommended size for no performance hit.

Thanks for that. 1024x1024 w/AA looks great in the shots.

Super, I'll start test immediately. Betterlooking shadows and reflections are gonna enhance the graphics alot.
This game is underrated in reviews imo. When you learn the controls, its alot of fun (gruesome bloody fun, even). It wasn't due to nothing that I still had it on my HD after soon 2 years. |

Just place the "d3d8.dll" & "br2fsaa.ini" files into "steamapps/common/bloodrayne 2" folder. Then edit "br2fsaa.ini" and set 'ForceResolution', 'Width', 'Heigh', 'ForceAR', ... variables, to your needs. Hope it will work for you too. ![]()
