The only game that I've really seen in-game advertising was NFS:MW and even then, it didn't bother me because I didn't really, really notice it. I think if they just put up billboards or banners in the game, then it's fine. But when it gets to where you can customize your character with 10 different Burger King logos, then yeah, it's a problem. Would it be bad if you HAD to have company logos on your uniform or vehicle? Yes the ad was minimalistic. There wasn't too much going on, just a shot of the etched wafer. It's not like there were some freaks dancing around it or anything.

There shouldn't be ads in games that we pay for, especially if it is out of place.

Ya the thought of 'what style will the ads be?!?!' was intriguing.. Be pretty stupid to have a Pepsi ad or something in it. Actually Rainbow Six Vegas had ad in it as well, irritating too that some are repeated a million times. Didn't see a lot of variety. I just can't figure QuakeWars with ads. Just seemed stupid to me but not as stupid as their cheap excuse to fund support.. C'mon..

Not on movie channels.

Your point = moot

Besides, channels on TV are always producing new content.

Actually, when cable tv came out one of its selling points was no ads in their programming. That changed pretty quick however.

Wait until 2008, I heard on Radio and read in paper that by 2008 there will be limit to the length of commercials. I believe the length right now is up to a minute or so. When asked is it possible we will see 5min long commercials they said Yes! Hahahahaha! Looks like I might be behind my PC a lot more next year!! Maybe this is just in Canada, but I suspect its North America all together.

Many popular online games also have new patches, new maps, etc. released. Continued development of games is not free. BF2142 has had many patches since its released.

Also, we pay to go to the movies and see plenty of advertisements, before and during the movie. This is really no difference, and I see absolutely no issue with it as long as it fits into the context of the game.

This is another source of revenue for game developers, and another incentive for developers to code PC Games, could be a good thing.

Wow you are SOOO right Spoudazo. On Movie channels, I bet those "movie" commericials are free of charge. I bet HBO doesn't charge money to show "Previews of Oceans 13". They just give away free advertising. I'm going to call HBO right now and see if they will advertise my home videos!!!! Its free!!! Why not!!!

When I watch movies I NEVER see the backside of an Apple Laptop(aimed perfectly), or an actor holding that Heineken Beer so that the camera can see it in its full glory. And I never NEVER see Spaceship with "Dodge" logo's all over it.

There are no advertisements on movie channels. Man you owned me so bad.

It comes down to if they wish to earn extra income at our expense then they need to offer us, something in return.

$30 for games with ads vs $50 for games without ads.

I also don't want to see this turn into DVD movies. Where you can't fast forward past preview trailers for upcoming movies (ads).

Right now I don't see anything in it for the customers. I only see a way for the developers/publishers to make extra money after we paid full price for the game. We the customer get NOTHING in return.

Now, I can see free expansion maps\packs like the latest BF2 map that was sponsored by Intel. That was a free add-on paid for by in game ads - I'm all for that.
