Angry Problems with GF2 Go and Mandrake 9.1

Just installed the new drivers on my Dell Inspiron 8100 w/ Geforce2 go and Mandrake 9.1. The news isn't good, I have a hoard of flickering lines down the left side of my display. The installer is sweet, but I guess I'll get to use the uninstall feature

Time to go compile some .4191's
(strangely they worked great for me...)

Default 1.0-4349 SuSE 8.0 rpms

The SuSE 8.0 rpms from ftp seem to be scrambled. I have tried to install the kernal module and it is not recognised as an rpm. Has anybody else had this problem?

maybe its just mandrake 9.1, but my textures in half-life under WINE are all screwed up (really, really) after installing these drivers

That's pretty weird that you're having problems with the GF2go and your dell... I'm using a Toshiba Satellite 3000 with GF2go and they're working wickedly... With Gentoo though, not Mandrake... hmm.

Default RedHat 8.0, GNOME and RenderAccel

I'm still having problems with these drivers and GNOME in RedHat 8.0, some icons get all messed up in the menus and in nautilus (not on the desktop though). This problem goes away with RenderAccel "off".

Still no go... 4149 works fine after reinstalling it, but tried the 4349 installer again and it doesn't work, GL doesn't work and then there's that flickering. Checked my XF86Config-4 and it looks fine....

Hmmm...kinda confusing

Later,

Default 4349 Dell Inspiron 8100

I can't seem to get either 4191 or 4349 to work on my Dell Inspiron 8100. I had no trouble with 3123. When I used the nvidia installer X worked once, but every since I just get a black screen with this weird problem of a fade to white. I have added all of the mobile options to the kernel. It causes X to lock up and I cant go to virtual console or anything. There doesn't seem to be any errors in the X log.

Does anyone have the 4349 working on a Inspiron 8100 with a GeForce2Go 32Mb?

That "fade to white" sounds like a panel bloom - please check your hsync and vrefresh values and make sure they're appropriate for your panel.

Just installed the 4339 drivers and everithing is running ok here. Just a problem, I can't change X resolution anymore with Ctrl-Alt + and Ctrl-Alt -

Any clues about this? The relevant portion of my XF86Config file:

Section "Device"
Identifier "Geforce4"
Driver "nvidia"
BoardName "Geforce4"
Option "NoLogo" "on"
Option "NvAGP" "3"
Option "NoRenderAccel" "off"
Option "NoRenderExtension" "off"
Option "DigitalVibrance" "0"
Option "SWCursor" "off"
Option "HWCursor" "on"
Option "CursorShadow" "on"
Option "CursorShadowAlpha" "50"
Option "CursorShadowXOffset" "2"
Option "CursorShadowYOffset" "2"
Option "UseEdidFreqs" "on"
Option "IgnoreEDID" "off"
Option "TwinView" "on"
Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync" "30-50"
Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh" "60"
Option "TwinViewOrientation" "Clone"
Option "MetaModes" "1024x768,800x600; 800x600,800x600"
#Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT, TV"
Option "TVOutFormat" "COMPOSITE"
Option "TVStandard" "PAL-B"
EndSection

I need to change to 800x600 to get correct output for my TV (I've setup Twinview in Clone mode)

Thumbs down Not good enough - HEY trying to call for attention

So, I got a Dell M50 with a Quadro card, since I needed stereo. And I shelled out quite a bit for it. And I thought that it would be a matter of time. But it is getting on my nerves. Version 1.4191 came with 2D broken. So, I went back to 1.3123. And there, when closing the lid on my laptop, the computer did not go to sleep, and the image got distorted (wider horizontally), somebody explain why, PLEASE. But, Ctrl-Alt-F1 (ie back to console) and then Alt-F7 (ie back to X) worked to restore my screen. Now, with the NEW and IMPROVED version, that does not work either rendering my computer unusable. What is going on???

I guess this means back to 1.3123 and wait for four months (and forget about RedHat 9).

Any explanation for me Andy? Here are the questions:

1 - Is the issue of laptop suspend fixed? I though t I had read something in the pdf presentation for the new installer.

2 - Why would my screen get distorted after closing and opening the lid of my computer?
(GPU is Quadro 500 GoGL)

3 - In the past (i.e. 1.3123) I could reset the distortion by switching back and forth from console (Alt-Ctrl-F1 Alt-F7). Any clues?

I could live with 1 and 2 but 3 is killing the machine for good and I can't afford it. Any thoughts (or should I go back to 1.3123)?

Default 1024 works but no native 1400

A Panel bloom, that is exactly what is does. I went to linux-laptop.net and grabbed a few example Modelines trying to get the 1400x1050 resolution to work but I can only make 1024x768 work. If I take out 1024 from the available modes it will do the Panel bloom. I have tried a few combinations with the NVreg_Moblie options set to 1 for dell laptops and the other SoftEDIDs option turned on. Plus I have tried the IgnoreEDID in the XConfig file. I am not for sure what I need to do here.

Any thoughts? Here are some files that might be of interest.

My laptop:
Dell Inspiron 8100
32MB Geforce2Go 1400x1050 XGA or SVGA screen I can't remember.

Trying to get 4349 to work with these files.

OK, cool. Let the record show that I want tarballs in the future.

Or at least an equivalent, like the ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4349.run --extract-only option that there is.

Thanks again.
