not crysis graphics

if 2 GTS is SLI cant handle crysis graphics then there is no way they can optimize it to be playable on a single 8800GTX or Ultra.
two months until release and every tech demo you heard of has slowdowns, this is not good.
i think we can expect sluggish preformance with a single 8800GTX at the release IMHO.

i mean Sluggish means around 10-15 FPS right.
if they get that Sluggish performance up to 20-25 FPS instead they are good!
further than that its about GPU raw power and we dont have that on todays graphics cards.

I sure hope so.

If that PC still won't run this game well when its released it'll totally destroy my interest in it.

The reason there is a difference between movie quality CG and video games is because one has to be playable in real time. Blurring the line between the two is completely pointless if playability is sacrificed.

Uh, 25 fps is terrible for a game that involves fast action and shooting. And as Doc kindly pointed out, the demo running at WSVG was the same demo from CES 07 which was over several months ago and is therefore OLD. I'm sure they've made leaps and bounds since then, so let's just cross our fingers as most of the doubts and fears are completely unsubstantiated.

The game wont be out until the end of the year so they have plenty of time to optimize it.

Crytek has not released any system requirements yet. Don't believe everything you read on the web.

Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli recently said that C2DE6600/2GB/GF8800 is enough to run Crysis on Ultra detail settings, but there will be a "hidden" detail mode which is reserved for future technology and which is not going to run so smooth with current high-end hardware.

@JuiceZ- Yes that level was made in time for CES 2007 held in January and is thus very old. You're spot on saying the performance issues were software related and have since been fixed/partially fixed.

Slumdunk is partially correct in his post. Those min/req specs are pure speculation by members of a fansite and are not official. However, there will not be hidden content on the Crysis DVD. There'll be future DX10 patches which will further increase the fidelity of Crysis after the release. While these enhancements currently work on today's hardware it isn't at acceptable framerates. Think of it like Far Cry patch 1.2 which introduced SM3, HDR, geometric instancing, and other features to CryENGINE1 but also required a new 6x00, x800/x700 vid card to enable them.

As far as current Crysis performance, I won't reveal my sources but it's right in line with today's top FPS titles with a proper gaming rig. One thing I want to stress though is just like CE1, CE2 is very CPU dependent but more so. The faster your CPU and the more cores you have the better your experience will be. The July 22nd price drop of the Q6600 couldn't come at a better time for people upgrading their rigs.

so 2 cores isnt enough for smooth gameplay?

man how bad is that game optimized ?
2 cores at 3.5Ghz each should be enough for every game.
where goes the rest of the CPU power if you have 2 more cores?

I have faith that this game will run better than some people think since its being built on DX10 as opposed to DX10 code being thrown on top of an engine that isn't coded that great to begin with like Call of Juarez.

1) Where do you get that from what I said?
2) Agreed, but I also said four cores is better than two. As has been noted in this thread Cevat recent said the game will run at max with a E6600 which we all know is dual core.
3) AI and physics.

@Arioch- Please don't forget the game is being simultaneously developed for DX9/XP and DX10/Vista. It will support both OSs.

There is no way Crytek would release Crysis if the top of the line modern hardware couldn't run it at an enjoyable framerate... nor would they release it if only top of the line hardware could run Crysis period (in any video quality). I don't know why most people are so paranoid about Crysis's performance. Why would Cevat state that a 2gigs/e6600/88000 could run the game on ultra/high or whatever if it really couldn't? Of course, he didn't mention resolution, AA, AS and what not, but that's beside the point; Crytek and EA are not known to sway semantics and misinformation to their consumers.

And they want to sell it at as much as possible people, even those with low to middle end rigs
