And you'd be surprised how many Nvidia guys hang out over on Rage3D. The ratio is a lot more balanced over there than it is here.
Crytek showcased Crysis at the 8800gtx launch, and dare I say, Crysis has spent more time with Nvidia than ATI. Also, I think the only reason some would even say that is because perhaps the whole geometry tessellation thing, and this game having descrutable environments, which calls for much tessellation. However, fillrate is also going to be a big factor as well.

From what I hear, it should run well on a 8800GTX. Maybe as good or better, we'll have to wait and see. I was just reporting what I had seen.

Comments from Rage3d (Ati largest fan site)...what do you expected them to say ??

Yeah, that's why the 8800 gives much better results in DX10 than R600

And for the others:

they said an E6600, 2GB and a 8800GTS can already run the game in Ultra settings

From what I saw there, they had quad-core Intel's with 4 sticks o' memory (not sure if it was 512s or 1GB sticks. Their sticker covered the rest, and I couldn't find a rep to speak with about the machines themselves.

I will tell you the GFX were amazing, and it was the little things that made them impressive, like jumping into a jeep driving a bit and as you pass under trees you can see the shadow of the leaves go up the hood and even affect the light entering the windshield, totally awesome.

I did notice some video chop at various times throughout the demo though. When the chopper came for instance things seemed to really slow down. I once got stuck inside a burning jeep and any attempt to look anywhere but straight up resulted in VAST performance decreases.

Let me try to put this one to bed. Here is chat from today:

[12:33] Doc: I think we have already figured it out by feedback, but the level being played in Louisville is the nanosuit, no?
[12:33] xxxxxx: yes it is
[12:33] Doc: same build as CES, no?
[12:33] Doc: in other words....no bug fixing
[12:33] xxxxxx: same build
[12:33] xxxxxx: no bug fixing
[12:34] xxxxxx: no changes
[12:34] Doc: yeah...figured as much. ppl reporting the same bugs and performance probs
[12:36] xxxxxx: no idea why it ran so crappy on the intel machine
[12:37] xxxxxx: at the cebit we had only dual core and a single gtx and it ran more than well
[12:38] Doc: it seems as though most of the performance complaints come from explosions and the motion blur
[12:38] xxxxxx: well who cares
[12:38] xxxxxx: that build is several months old
[12:39] Doc: sure, it was ready for CES...so it was made like Dec or Jan
[12:40] xxxxxx: exactly
[12:40] Doc: the new footage from Rescue is much smoother except for occasional hiccups (from what I can tell...looks to be AI related)
[12:41] xxxxxx: yep, so code has been significantly improved

There will be a MP beta program announcement shortly. This program is different than the two demos (one SP and one MP) planned for prior to retail release.
