Default Full-screen openarena problem

After installing F7 and nVidia's Linux-x86-100.14.11 driver, when I play openarena, even if I specify "full screen" mode, the "full screen" only displays within the middle of the LCD display of my notebook, the rest being a black background which the mouse could not go to. This is true no matter what resolution I specify in openarena, even the native 1280x800.

Searching on google, it is very similar to this thread:

http://forums.blagblagblag.org/viewt...1b820ff1ecddc2

Note that with FC6, x86 kernel, and the legacy 1.0.9xx x86 driver, with the same version of openarena ( but x86 of course ), openarena uses the entire display ... but not with x86_64.

I am not sure if this is a problem with using x86_64 instead of x86, or if this is a problem with openarena ... so am posting it here if anyone have something similar. Any ideas ?

Note that opengl screensavers does not exhibit this problem.

Most likely, this is an issue with how your window manager deals with Xinerama. Without seeing an nvidia-bug-report.log, I can't comment further.

Does Open Arena's resolution modes match your monitor's?

Is X "allowed" to change screen resolution? Add all the modes you desire to xorg.conf.
Code:
Modes "1280x800" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"

I'm not using Xinerama.

Ah, I don't recall having seeing those options in my xorg.conf file. I'll give that a try and report back.

I think I know how I got full screen with FC6, though I am not 100% entirely sure.

Under F7, if I specify in xorg.conf:

Modes "1024x768" "840x525" "800x600" "640x480"

Then openarena can display at fullscreen with 1024x768. But if I specify:

Modes "1280x800" "1024x768" "840x525" "800x600" "640x480"

Then openarena could not display at fullscreen at all, because openarena does not have 1280x800 as an option, but 1280x1024, which I presume my LCD notebook monitor could not do. When I mean "openarena could not display at fullscreen", I mean that openarena uses only the middle of the display, and everything else around it is coloured black which the mouse could not go to.

However, I could not recall what resolution I was using with FC6 on this notebook. Using 1024x768 under F7 just looks ... odd .. but I seem to recall I was able to get full screen with openarena with the various display size options ( save for the ones that do not match my LCD of course ).

Found the answer:

http://openarena.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ#...thing_else_.3F

I thought that openarena would query the available videomode's of xorg ... but there is a way to override it as per above. Now I have a full screen openarena with 1280x800. Note that the custom resolution will not appear on the graphics menu setting. It says 640x480, even though it isn't.
