Well, I tried the X-Clamp fix on mine, still RLODed on me a week later. Applied the penny fix yesterday since it RLODed, hopefully it will be ok, but I very much doubt it. If it eventually dies completely, I will hold off until a better version is out.

Once some great games come out all this fanyboy "my console is better then yours" nonsense will die down (I hope).

Really? It's a perfect opportunity for fanboys on both sides of the issue to come out of the closet...err, woodwork.

I don't really mind. I'm on my 3rd 360, but that's because I thought my 2nd one scratched a disk, but I wasn't sure, so I sent it in for a new one anyways.

Technically, my PC which I spent like almost 2,000 on and only bought quality parts, broke down more than my 360. But just because you don't need to send it for repairs to anyone people don't complain like they do for consoles. You never see someone say, "Oh my PSU broke, that's it I'm buying a PS3... I give up on PC Gaming."

plus every component in my PC has at least 3 year warranty, some have 5, few have lifetime.

why can't console companies give out 3+ year warranties?

Not sure, but don't GPUs and CPUs only have 1 year warranties?

Because Consoles are sold at a loss for acouple of years. The same can be said about Cell Phones, why not give them longer then a 1yr warrenty? Because carries give them away or sell them for $25 even though they cost $100+ retail (I can provide you proof if you want when I get to the office tomorrow).

toxikneedle, Most Videocards have lifetime warrenty (which is only the time the product is sold, once its nolonger sold you get the equivalent to the product at the time of its failure, aka your 5 Series Geforce card would be replaced with the lowest possible 7/8 Series card... if not a 6 Series Card).

Hmm alright, I don't remember what warranties my parts have, that's why I was asking.

Update: My xbox died today (3 red lights). So current stats are: 10 xboxes known, 4 failed (5 if I include the 1 DOA unit). Good to see MS doing the right thing now.

Mine just died last night... It is practically a launch system, Manf. date : 11-16-2005.

Apart from being very noisy and maybe one or two crashes (which I put down to PGR3's poor online implementation), I hadn't really had much to complain about.

I called MS now though and they say it is going to take 20-25 days to return a repaired unit to me, and I am not pleased! I'm a med student and still haven't finished uni for summer yet unlike students of all other courses that finished more than 5 weeks ago. I've got a huge paper to hand in and haven't played much recently. I've got a week to go and then holidays for just 3 and a half weeks, then I'm back. Seems like I'm only gonna have my 360 for like the last week of that, if that.

I heard other people had turnaround times of like 4 days, what's with 20-25 days!?

And before anyone tells me its all to do with where I keep my console, take a look... it could barely be in a more open space and temperate climate (its summer here but not a particularly warm one. I bet the temp has not even reached 30 deg C in my room once yet.)

Edit: Ignore the mess and those odd dirt stains! I've just had to move from one room to another, but the placement of the console is the same regardless. I should have said that I do move the console around a fair bit because I use it on the HDTVs when no-one else wants to watch TV, but when I do that the console is completely open sitting on the floor in front of the TV!
