Thx.

I was aware of those but were they released by ATI?

A wille ago i saw somewhere on the net that ATI would probably release 4.3.0 drivers by mid May.

I thought you allready had those ones.

Thx once again.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but if AGPGART support is working and it will be in the next nForce driver pack, why not simply release the AGPGART alone as an unsupported driver, now?

Again, I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but having the support just beyond my fingertips after waiting so many months is making me crazy!

Default agpgart patch

WORKS!!!!
Had to manually patch it though into my 2.4.21rc1-ac4 kernel

Finally I get my Radeon to work at full speed!

This is GREAT!! Thanks nonolk!

PS. For me it works great with the original drivers that came with XFree 4.3 (on RH9)

glxgears reports: 46485 frames in 5.0 seconds = 9297.000 FPS

I also was able to manually apply the patch to my 2.4.21-rc1 kernel...
Athough I have a geforce2 ti I wanted to try this new patch and it works perfectly! There were no problems at all and I use the nvidia binary driver. Checked /proc/drivers/agp/status and it sais "AGPGART"

I really wonder why nvidia doesn't release this patch to the public... IT IS GREAT

So if you have a Radeon and cannot use it until now... GET THIS PATCH!!!

It was sent to the AGPGART maintainers, and will be a part of the next nForce driver release.

I just want know to if someone manage to make working dri with ati proprietary drivers, because I can't make it working with my radeon 9700 pro.
And for the patch it's not my work ( say thank's to nvidia), I just hack it from 2.5 kernel to make it working with 2.4 kernel.

Hehe, so you hacked the 2.5 patch which was hacked by the agpgart maintainer from the nVidia 2.4 patches back into a 2.4 patch

Default agpgart

Hi nonolk,
I don't understand the word proprietary, maybe you mean the drivers made by ati. I haven't tried those drivers after applying the patch, but tried them about a week ago, and there was some artifacts on my display which went away when moving mouse over them.

The drivers which originally came with XFree, work fine for me, even DRI.

Tested a few games for linux, Myth II, Rune and with winex3 I tried Warcraft 3, which also worked nice.

I tried the patch from DJ's page into an 2.5 kernel without success, got only kernel panics, sound missing completely, no network.

Oh, and my radeon is 8500QL (128MB). Anyway, thanks for hacking a hacked patch, it works great!
