Question Suspending GPU

Is it possible somehow to suspend GPU in linux with all other system still running (GF Go 7600)? I have ~80C/58C (GPU, Ambient) and I don't really like that values. If I leave my notebook for a night with closed lid it can reach ~87C on GPU. I leave my notebook for compilation (emerge world ) so I don't really need any video/X11.

Hm... the only thing I can recall to do is to turn down the 2D clock speed to the very lowest. That might only save you 5 degrees.
