God, yes. I've been using Vista on the laptop and hate every second of it. The slowdowns in linux are really inconvenient, and make suspend useless. Please, please, please release a beta it's been well over a month

It does not seem so ;->>

The latest NVidia driver 100.11.14 does not solve this problem for me.
However I have to admin I have a slightly different hardware:
Thinkpad T61p with Quadro FX 570 M and Ubuntu Gutsy bleeding edge, i386 and amd64 installations.

Same pb here with an HP 8510w and a quadro fx 570M.
If a beta driver is somehow available, I'm in... because if this doesn't work, suspend or hibernate is (as someone stated before) useless.

This is really disgusting. :\ I know the guys from Nvidia that help us here do the best they can, and arn't allowed to talk about new drivers, but judging by how long it takes to get fixes for things like this seriously says something about how the company works internally.

I know 99% of sales probably come from big OEM companies like Dell, and contracts with companies like Sony for GPU contracts on video game systems. That basically leaves people like us in the dust, with concerns that won't be heard or tended to as we account for a tiny fraction of the revenue. I _HATE_ corporate America. It's so very, very upsetting.

Intel is (hopefully) going to be breaking into the GPU market soon, they've been committed to open source drivers in the past, and they've managed to release open drivers for their new X3xxx cards which does contain some advanced hardware...when they break into the performance market depending on how it plays out I might be making a switch. I wonder if/how they can get around IP issues...Sigh....

i can confirm the same slowdown issue with the latest drivers (100.14.11). Suspend/resume works, but X display writes are noticably lagged.

i have a t61 with the NVS 140m card.

Was this the driver that was supposed to have the aforementioned fix, or has that yet to come?

humbly a awaiting a fix for the these power management issues. only missing peice of the puzzle as far as getting everything working with Ubuntu 7.04 on my laptop...

Nope, we are still waiting for a beta or a release of the driver with the fix.

I wonder if slowdown only happens when one uses glx stuff while suspending (compiz/beryl). I'm using .09 without any desktop effects and seem to be unaffected by the slowdown (same T61 with 140M on xubuntu 7.04).

EDIT: Spoke too soon. Seeing slowdown as well, as well as "NVRM: Xid (0001:00): 37, CMDre 00000001 00000080 00000000 00000005 00000009" in the dmesg

yah i get the slowdown regardless of whether im running any glx stuff (fluxbox, with no compiz/beryl type stuff)

whats odd is if i switch to console and mess around a bit, doing a bunch of "ls -l"'s and whatnot, and switch back to X, its slightly more responsive, but still noticably lagged.

but if theres a fix sitting in wait i guess that info isnt very useful now.

any indication on when the new binary will be released? is it possible...if its some ways away...that an intermediate release be issued with this fix in place?

It's been almost two month since the last reply by NVidia, so I'm not holding my breath to hear the news about the driver...
