Thumbs down XFX + Europe + Warranty + RMA

I bought a "XFX 7900GTX XT 512MB (690/1750) " on March, 2006, in Europe.

The card never worked at 1750 MHz without artifacts.

I lowered the clock to 1600 MHz, and, it was working fine.

2 months ago, i bought my ASUS 8800GTX, so, i sent my old 7900 to XFX, on May, 3, for the RMA.

2 Months later (today), XFX says that my card works, and that they're returning my card.

My seller tested my card too, and they found the same problem with the memory & the artifacts (on a very different system).

This story hasn't finished yet. I still have a long fight vs XFX ahead.

I just want to warn some buyers, about the warranty on a very expensive gfx card, cause, it's ultra important, in special, for factory overclocked cards.

Wish me good luck

Update #1 (July, 5): XFX has returned the card to me I feel seriously angry & in rage against XFX . I'm going to test the card again, & tomorrow i'll re-send it again.
Update #2 (July 6): I've sent the card again. (& more money spent)
Update #3 (July 10): My seller has the card, and they should be returning it to XFX today.

Best of luck. I really don't see why people are recently putting XFX in the same category as BFG and EVGA.

Yeah, I've seen people experience trouble with the XXX range, some people I know got the 8800 Ultra XXX and the cards wouldn't run at the OC speed without artifacts. A review site here also ran into that problem, so I guess the quality control there isn't always up to par.

Yeah don't bother with XFX. Loads of people are having problems with their 8800 ultra xxx working properly at its advertised speeds. I am steering well clear of that brand in the future.

Just for a reference, my old 7900gtx would do 715/1860.

I think you should do what I did, and just get as far away from the 7900gtx as possible. I had to RMA one of them, and the second one I was always "nervous" with due to all the other people having artifacting issues.

Here's how my first 7900gtx turned out, no matter what settings the core/memory were on basically.

Unhappy Re: XFX + Europe + Warranty + RMA

I've received the "same" non working card today from XFX.

"XFX says that the card works", & they've put a 'non defective' stick in it.

In spite of, i've tested the card again today, and it doesn't work.

The card even fails on the frequencies test on the nvidia driver.

After some mins of gameplay, i see the artifacts like in Spoudazo's pic of BF2.

2 months for nothing.

At this point, i dunno what to do, cause, i'm small vs a big company like XFX.

So, tomorrow, i'm going to set a fraud denounce.
