Default NVS 140M laptop brightness control

Hey,

I'm using a ThinkPad T61 with the NVS 140M running on Suse Enterprise Desktop 10 SP1. I've installed the latest Nvidia driver (100.14.11). I am no longer able to use my function key to change the brightness of the LCD. I also cannot get sax2 to recognize the video card as what it actually is, instead I end up with "VESA Framebuffer Graphics". I know support for this GPU is relatively new, should I attribute my issues to that? Please let me know if any additional information is needed.

Thanks,
Dan

hi, have you any news?
i'm still tryin' to get brightness control working on my lenovo t61...
at the moment i have to switch to a console, set brightness and switch back to X.. (the only way to get it work i found is disabling nvidia driver and using the "vesa" one...)
i also try to put NVreg_EnableBrightnessControl=1 in modprobe.d but it seems that doesn't work...

I'm getting the same problem. How did you find out about NVreg_EnableBrightessControl? It doesn't seem to be in the documentation anywhere.

i've found it via
# modinfo nvidia
[cut]
parm: NVreg_EnableBrightnessControl:int
[cut]

so i try to set it, but without success...

maybe we have to wait for a new release of drivers?

AFAIK, the Brightness (backlit) can be changed by ACPI on most laptops...

Does Nvidia keep a public bug database that shows they consider the bug confirmed?

A new driver was released last night, I haven't had a chance to test it yet.
