I pretty sure your fps in the game will be the same. But the load times in the game will improve I think. Somebody else will let us know for sure.

Thankyou. What about occasional stuttering?

that I think has something to do with videocard and drivers. Oh maybe memory, like not having enough.

HD will not change your performance.

and don't bother with a raptor, new WD 750GB 7200RPM drive is faster then the raptors

95mb/s max speed and 75mb/s average.

So, instead should I get one more 1gb ram stick because I am moving up to vista anyways.

I would think the best thing to start with is an FX-60 dual core processor. BF2 is multithreaded and uses between 60 - 65% of my processor between the two cores, so that is about a 10 - 15% increase in processor speed if you OC it to 2.8GHZ. I'm guessing that if you aren't sitting on the FPS cap that might be the reason, but I'm not sure what settings you are running.

I swear I could stay on the fps cap or close to it with a 6800GT SLI on this FX-60, but it has been a while since I've been running those cards.

2GB ram should be plenty because I haven't seen BF2 get over 1GB that I can recall minus when they had the memory leak. With Everything cranked to max at 1600 x 1200 then resized for 1920 x 1200, I'm using about 930MB of ram for just the BF2.exe. So that still leaves a full gig of ram for whatever else may be running.

I have and fx-57 2.8ghz processor which is the fastest single core processor valued at $1000.00 and according to the benchmarks performs better than fx-60 (http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...px?i=2668&p=8) Go to Page 9 for game setup.

I also thought that Battlefield 2 was only a single core game not a dual core or multi threaded game.

Also keeping in mind, that I only got 1 gb left out of 250gb hd.

Do you think it is my graphics cards even though Bf2 was designed for 6800's and I have two 7800's Gtx.

I usually get 50fps on average but once it gets busy it goes down to 30 and worse fps. I also mentioned earlier that I also experience stuttering (not too much though). I have explained everything that goes on now what do you think? Also how do you overclock since I am a newb when it comes to computers. Please dont mention ntune since that program stinks and almost screwed up my system.

Umm... Sorry to tell ya, but I wouldn't pay more than $100 for that proc anymore. Also, as of patch 1.02 (I think) BF2 had multithreaded capability added to it. That bench is really, really old too so I'm not even sure if they had the the correct patch or not because they didn't list anything stating they had a multithreaded patch. EDIT: Maybe I'm just dreaming it all cause I'm not seeing anything about multithreading. Maybe it was just that cause it didn't multithread that it had to be fixed.

Your graphic cards should be able to run the game just fine with a decent amount of detail because you are running SLI on 2 decent cards. The only time I had stuttering in BF2 was because I needed to have the patch for dual core support, but that shouldn't apply because you have a single core processor.

If you only have that one drive and it is almost full, that could definitely be causing and issue because your drive is probably fragmented a little, and if your swap file needs to expand it cannot because you are out of drive space. It might be a good idea to try to delete some things off of your hard drive in order to defragment the drive.

I think this is why also, hardrive too full and always keep it defragmented, I have diskeeper pro 2007 for my computer, but use your windows defrager at least once a week, if you don't have a 3rd party defragger like diskeeper, works automatically, on all the time.

Are those 512 meg 7800gtxs or 256meg, I have another computer with two 512 megs, and another with one Evga 8800 gtx 320 meg and both computers are close in hardware cpu etc and the evga 320 meg is little faster in 3dMark06 than two 7800gtx 512 megs.

The funny thing is that I defrag like 3 times in a day just to keep it all clean and organized and thats why my computer has NOT slowed down at all.

And you are also telling me that one nvidia 8800 320mb is better than 2 7800gtx's?
