Default Clock readings strange

evga 7800 gs

$ nvclock -s
Card: nVidia Geforce 7800GS
Card number: 1
Memory clock: -2147483.750 MHz
GPU clock: 275.400 MHz

Whats going on with my memory readings, furthermore I cant change the memory speed and any increases in gpu clock speeds revert back in a 1/2 hour

I thought nvclock only worked for very old drivers.

Please note that `nvclock` is third-party software. The current clocks can also be queried via `nvidia-settings`, e.g.:
# nvidia-settings -q GPUCurrentClockFreqs

Attribute 'GPUCurrentClockFreqs' (wolf:0.0): 350,600.
'GPUCurrentClockFreqs' is a packed integer attribute.
'GPUCurrentClockFreqs' is a read-only attribute.
'GPUCurrentClockFreqs' can use the following target types: X Screen, GPU.

Which version of the NVIDIA Linux graphics driver and `nvidia-settings` are you using?

billydv@Linux1 ~ $ cat /proc/driver/nvidia/version
NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 100.14.11 Wed Jun 13 18:21:22 PDT 2007
GCC version: gcc version 4.1.2 (Gentoo 4.1.2)
billydv@Linux1 ~ $

Previous driver versions required nvidia-settings ebuild but this driver requires removal of nvidia-settings as I believe it build them but I dont know how to access it

Zander, never mind, there is currently a bug with the gentoo ebuild that prevents proper building of the nvidia-settings but I did the suggested workaround and now have it. My next question is why are my clock settings so low? As I understood it an evga 7800 gs should run memory at about 1000 or so, here are the clock readings

nvidia-settings -q GPUCurrentClockFreqs

Attribute 'GPUCurrentClockFreqs' (Windows2:0.0): 275,650.
'GPUCurrentClockFreqs' is a packed integer attribute.
'GPUCurrentClockFreqs' is a read-only attribute.
'GPUCurrentClockFreqs' can use the following target types: X Screen, GPU.

Should I change them and if so how would I go about it?

@billydv: are these the clocks with a 3D application running?
