Default Nintendo recalls Mario Party 8 in the UK

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/07...mario_party_8/

Apparently spastic is considered insulting in the UK? I had never heard it used in that fashion, but based on the comments I guess it's something along the lines of calling something "retarded" here (although I would guess that one's more universal).

Yup, it's a little bit more harsh than 'retard' though. Kinda careless if you ask me, the localisation testers should have spotted it instantly.

lmfao @ "spastic" !

That's hilarious, if I were sat playing a Mario game and one character called another a spastic.... LMAO ..they should have left that in.

It's a term used often to refer to someone as being "handicap" in some way, but as an insult, you wouldn't refer to someone disabled as "spastic". lol

As a result of us Brits using the word Spastic in this way, they even had to change the name of the charitable organistaion that looks after children with Cerbral Palsy from "The Spastics Society" to SCOPE.

They're actually very proud of their name change... however, a new insult is apparently starting among young children, and thats to call people "Scopies".
