Default glxgears freezes Linux - Debian Etch

I'm running Debian Etch on a nVidia 6150 LE chipset and DRI has been enabled
from when I installed the nvidia-glx and nvidia-xconfig from the Etch repository.

So far I have been able to run a few gfx intensive opengl games and glxinfo |grep direct outputs yes with no other errors so I thought everything's configured.

Except - I started to try a few more opengl games and they would only play the intro movie then debian would freeze. Realizing I hadn't tried running glxgears so far I did so only to find glxgears outputs a black window with no gears and debian hangs. This has been on the debian forums too for about a month and is unresolved - appriciate advice. I was not able to ssh or telnet into this system after the error except I included the log file I just made anyway.

Note:

When I ran the bug report I recieved this error:

Running nvidia-bug-report.sh...

/usr/bin/nvidia-bug-report.sh: line 274: nvidia-settings: command not found
complete.

1.0-8776 is no longer supported. Please retest with 100.14.11.

Thanks,
