Whats the difference between a Thermalright Ultra-120 & a Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme?
They both look exactly the same to me! ... whats the difference? is there any real major performance increase?

The extreme model has 6 heatpipes ,the prior version has 4 ,it made a small positive difference in anandtechs comparisons.I love mine tbh, using a titan aluframe 2200 rpm 74 cfm fan on it atm.

I think its worth it. If you're spending $50 on a heatsink, spend $60 and get a slightly better version.
Or you could be like me and catch free handouts from awesome guys like Mullet. ![]()

X6800 Extreme @ 3.6Ghz, stock voltage, Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E 1200rpm.
Idle: 37-40C Load: 46C I could probably go up to the SFF21F, system is silent, VERY SILENT. ![]()

Its the best air cooling out at the moment ,but at the price its at now I'd prefer to go for budget water cooling.

Ambient temp around 20-21 c Idle ![]() Load ![]() Im using this fan for it but it was a bit of a headache to mount it as the frame is solid alu,had to cut slots in it for the fasterners.Looks nice though ![]() http://www.kylning.com/product_info....roducts_id/441

Let us know how you get on. I've got an Ultra120-extreme in it's box waiting to be fitted - just cba to take out the mobo to do it despite my processor temps going up to 70 under ortho load. You might inspire me to fit it when I put in my new xi-fi. And having read that Anandtech review, I'm even more inclined to do it.
