Default Is 720P half HD?

Hi. A quick question. Is 720P Half HD if 1080P is fullHD. I am seeing tv's that are 1080p stating that they are fullhd. Reason being is that I want to buy a tv but the cheapest 1080p set is about 800 whilst the 720p sets are around 390. Thanks

lol

720p is FULL HD. So is 1080i. 1080p being called "FullHD" is Sony marketing bull**** that caught on due to the average person being so ****ing stupid. Two things to answer to find out if 1080p means jack **** to you:

1. Size of TV
2. Distance from TV you sit

I'm 70" @ 12.5'. 1080p is hardly anything. 720p is 99% identical.

No! Bull****e to make you pay more. Infact many wont even be able to tell the difference especially on a set less that 32". Also don't just go on weather a TV is 720P or 1080P. Check the other features like contrast, inputs etc.

I'd need 95" to fully benefit from 1080p at my view distance, lol.

Sony is so lucky most people are clueless.

At 40' 480p is fine. At 8' on a 70" you're starting to need 1080p.

Thanks for the chart Evilchris. I will be getting a 32" tv and I sit about 10 feet away. I got swept away by the 1080P hype. My spelling is a bit off today because I fell ill.

If you're 8' from a 70" screen your corneas are going to start smoking anyway.
