There is to be a conflict with the TwinView code in the NVIDIA X driver and some changes that were made recently to XFree86 to support the RandR extension.

Until we (NVIDIA) release a new driver, the work around is to use an earlier version of XFree86.

Which "earlier" version of XFree86 must we use?

And.. is this the *only* workaround?

thanks,
d

I think all Versions <= 4.2.1 should do it. With 4.2.99 the new extesion was implemented...
But I don't know exactly, I use the function seldom with xinerama so I did not track the Problem through all versions.

groovy. Well..I think that resolution switching isn't as important to me as running XFree4.3, so I'll just stick with creating a new XF86Config file for when I want to switch resolutions. Good to know that you've found the problem. Do you still want any of my logs? Also -- I'd be happy to help beta test a bugfix if you need any volunteers.

thanks again,
d
