I am running debian unstable, on an amd64 architecture, with glibc 2.6
I always run my own custom kernel, which is 2.6.19* at the moment. I have the newest nvidia driver, which has always worked fine for me, until today I recompiled my kernel to add FUSE (in-kernel, not module). Kernel compiled fine, installed it, reboot. As usual, I go to recompile the nvidia driver. Works like a charm, I install it, type "startx", and xorg crashes without any apparant reason, it only gives me this short backtrace: Backtrace: 0: X(xf86SigHandler+0x84) [0x80c4724] 1: [0xb7f0d420] 2: X(main+0x2aa) [0x806ea5a] 3: /lib/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xd8) [0xb7d1a7c8] 4: /usr/lib/libGLcore.so.1 Fatal server error: Caught signal 11. Server aborting Nothing more. Nothing useful to be found in the Xorg log files either. It runs fine with the "nv" driver. The things I have tried: * cleaning the entire driver, then reinstalling again * make clean in my kernel source dir, and recompiling * using an older version of the nvidia driver (96*) * reinstalling all the xorg/glx related stuff * manually removing every "nvidia" related file off my harddrive, and reinstalling the driver Nothing seems to work! Can anyone help me out? Edit: ok the log file is attached now! |

I am quite sure that the person here (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=95767) who thinks his problem is caused by SLUB is having the same problem as I am.
We both run debian unstable, and same symptoms (nv runs fine, nvidia installs fine, but makes xorg crash). I run kernel 2.6.19 however, also custom compiled. Could this be related to the fact that debian recently switched to glibc 2.6? |
