Default GLX + Xinerama

Any time I try to run any windows program with wine, or any GLX application, I get an error. mPlayer also dies on me.

These errors disappear when I stop using Xinerama. I am using Xinerama with three displays, across two graphics cards. (1280x1024,1920x1200,1280x1024 - 19", 24", 19") (8600GTS, 7600GS)

The cards are not similar enough, but, according to the errors an documentation, the rendering should only be disabled on the display driven by that card, and not only that, but the Wine apps fail too, and I somewhat doubt uTorrent is doing much in 3D.

CPU usage is also very high (often 70% when moving a window - take into consideration this is on a Core 2 Duo E6600.)

GLX apps give the error 'Couldn't set video mode: Couldn't find matching GLX visual' - with nVidia drivers installed and configured correctly.

glxgears gives me: Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual

As soon as Xinerama is taken out of use, these problems no longer occur.

I submitted a bug report to the Ubuntu launchpad, and they said to come here as I am using the newest nVidia driver (100.14.11)

bug report log file (say, it is not very help full *g*).

From my experience with earlier drivers, GLX was not available on
both cards when mixing GPUs of different families. Maybe mplayer
tries to render into a texture be default? Please try out the mplayer
"-vo" option to check if it makes a difference when using another
output driver (type "mplayer -vo help" to get a list of output drivers).

Ack, I switched to using a single monitor for some video, I'll have to switch back and create another bug report, sorry.

And yeah, I've tried all of the video outputs, and they all fail.

Strange thing. Can you please type "strace mplayer > mplayer-bug-report.log"
and post the resulting log file?

Ah, forget the mplayer bug, it appears to work now... odd. Must have been restarting x, not switching to a single monitor that made it work.

Anyway, the rest still doesn't work.

Attached is a multi-monitor nvidia-bug-report.

From what i see in the bug report, you are having two 8600GTS and one 7600GS?

In this case, i recommed dropping the 7600GS and configuring
two seperate screens for the first 8600GTS card (adding another
screen with the second 8600GTS). This will also give you GLX
across your whole setup ...

Ooops, forget about it, you already defined two seperate screens for the
only 8600GTS you have ...

Yes, on screen one. But it doesn't work on all screens, and as I gather, I shouldn't get an error, but rather a black area where the GLX stuff should be.

Anyone have any idea? This is somewhat critical for me.
