Smile multicolor screen after booting (geforce 6200 LE)

i was looking for everywhere this issue, but i cannot find a solution.
i got a Nvidia Geforce 6200 LE and a Viewsonic widescreen 19'' 1440x990 monitor.

When i boot, the system stops, before i could achieve the graphic kubuntu login the system shows me a multicolor screen. the way i use to solve the problem and get my login to everything working good is going to terminal ctrl+alt+F1, do nothing, and then go back to graphics ctrl+alt+F7. That is a very weird thing.
I was using nvidia-glx and then nvidia-glx-new, and the problem remains.
After that, everything works good, but i got to do the ctrl+alt #&%$ every time i boot

This is my XORG.conf: ( http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/32915/ )

GLXGEARS tells me this:
mauricio@FEISTYmas:~$ glxgears
8 frames in 30.0 seconds = 0.267 FPS
9 frames in 38.6 seconds = 0.233 FPS
2 frames in 24.4 seconds = 0.082 FPS
3 frames in 22.0 seconds = 0.137 FPS
2 frames in 24.2 seconds = 0.083 FPS
Cancelado (core dumped)
mauricio@FEISTYmas:~$

is this a big problem?
what is happenning here?

Default Re: multicolor screen after booting (geforce 6200 LE)

i read the sticky topics, but i had a problem and i could not achieve to load the X server.

This is the procedure:

* development tools like make and gcc are installed
* the linux-headers package matching the installed Linux kernel is installed
* the pkg-config and xserver-xorg-dev packages are installed
* the nvidia-glx package has been uninstalled with the --purge option and the files /etc/init.d/nvidia-glx and /etc/init.d/nvidia-kernel do not exist #i did not remove the file nvidia-kernel, i only will change the name, i think that will be better, just for backUp.#

If you use Ubuntu, please also ensure that the linux-restricted-modules or linux-restricted-modules-common packages have been uninstalled. Alternatively, you can edit the /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules or /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common configuration file and disable the NVIDIA linux-restricted kernel modules (nvidia, nvidia_legacy) via:

DISABLED_MODULES="nv nvidia_new"

Additionally, delete the following file if it exists:

rm -f /lib/linux-restricted-modules/.nvidia_new_installed

i did all this ok, except for the line comented up there.
i restarted the system and it failed. Even whorse than before, becouse, before i at least could do the "ctrl+alt thing"

To revert the effect of what i did, i only remove the word NVIDIA_NEW in the file /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common

i restarted the system and everything came back to the first problem, i mean, i can get my desktop very well after the ctrl+alt thing.

i will rename the file /etc/init.d/nvidia-kernel as i said and restart the system after that, to see what happen this time.

Please, be pacient, becouse i am from Peru, my english is very bad i think.

Bye and thank you.

1.0-9755 is no longer supported. Please retest with 100.14.11.

Also, please test with NvAGP set to 0 in xorg.conf.

netllama, i cannot understand too much, please, could you be more specific?

i think, 1.0.9755 is the not supported nvidia driver and 100.x.x.x is the new one?

and:

where exactly do i put NvAGP in the xorg.conf ?

Correct, 100.14.11 is the newest driver that is supported for your GPU.

You should add the following to the Device section of xorg.conf:
Option "NvAGP" "0"

thanks,
Lonni
