Default Geforce 7050 PV XvMC

this onboard graphic worked here with the 100.14.11 driver, but the xvmc option doesn´t work.
is the support for this feature not implemented in this driver?
xine crashed with xxmc option on with the message "unknown 3d-system" or something like that..
Is this feature planned for the next release? and when will it be released?
it is very necessary for a efficient htpc!

thanks for a reply

The next driver release should contain a fix for XvMC on your chipset.

Hi,

I'm just about to set up a HTPC based on linux with the NVIDIA 7050 PV. To be honest I'm a bit new to this topic.
At the moment I'm wondering if the closed Nvidia drivers support hardware acceleration for MPEG2 AND/OR MPEG4 (H.264).
I think the actual driver supports MPEG2 acceleration with XVMC but has some bugs with the 7050 PV chip.
Is there any possibility available or planed to use the full potential of this chipset for video decoding under Linux? Is there already a release date planed for the bugfixed, new drivers. Will they also have hardware H264 accelartion?
A soon answer could save a lot of work for me because if the hardware accelartion won't work under linux I have to go back to Windows.

Thanks and best regards!

Just installed it on my 7050 mobo and XvMC does seem to work now. This command which gave an error message before now works:

mplayer -vo xvmc -vc ffmpeg12mc /usr/pluto/sample.mpg

The 100.14.19 release notes also mention XvMC was fixed for the 7050. I'm not sure why, but it didn't seem to improve performance or lower CPU usage on my LinuxMCE system even after enabling XvMC in MythTV.

If I may ask, what kind of cpu utilization do you see for 720p and/or 1080i mpeg-2 decoding? also, what is your cpu speed?
