I can't seem to disable DX10 mode to get vsync triple buffering working, the fraps fps numbers still have the black background like DX10 is still enabled

I have just the opposite problem.

If I enable vsync its disabled when I come back to the game.

Also, I can't seem to force the game to run at 85hz in DirectX 10 mode with vsync on. It'll do 85hz with vsync off when i start the game, but as soon as I turn it on its back to 60Hz. If I restart the game, its back to 85Hz but vsync is off again.

Very annoying...

I wasn't expecting these kinds of problems from this game...

I don't think that's a game problem, I think it's a Vista/drivers problem.

Thats pretty stupid. Who wants a couple barely noticeable DX10 features if you are going to lose FSAA? Glad I havn't gon to vista and DX10 yet. So far its been a joke.

I just installed my copy (Walmart of all places) and it took 20 minutes for my rig from DVD insert to game menu. Not too bad, but I've seen faster. I'll report later on gameplay, etc.

I'm so in love with Steam atm, mainly because it's cheaper than Aussie stores, and i get it 3 days early.

I just installed the game, however I am experincing alot of static poping sounds. My sound is the onboard audio from a asus a8n-sli-premium. It is pritty loud and happens heavily when a monster or voice over sound is playing. Any suggestions?

Can anyone with the full version comment on how linear the full version is? Do the levels open up and branch or is it pretty much on rails?

It is linear, but not Doom 3 linear. You don't get the sense your stuck on a trail. Very nicely done.

You're lucky to get popping. I get no sound at all with my Realtek HD Audio. Nothing, Zip. Nada.

Ah, this is stupid.

Just got back from Circuit City ($39 for Bioshock), and I went to install.

It got ALL THE THE WAY THROUGH THE INSTALL, then tried to "download the latest patch" and apparently it detected I had a virtual drive active in the background, and it DELETED THE WHOLE INSTALL, so I had to disable the virtual drive and start over again.

That's right, it wrote over 5gb of data to the drive, then deleted because it doesn't like a virtual drive in the background.

Bah this is SO retarded.

I can agree with that. Thank goodness I am dual booting for now.
