Default Woskspace wierdness

I am running Ubuntu Fiesty on my HP dv6000 laptop. I want to basically leave my laptop closed and use my mouse monitor and keyboard to do everything I need to do.

In order to get my monitor working with the correct resolution, I had to edit my xorg file so that it now reads like so....

Code:
kornface13@Kornbox:~$ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf(5) manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

I changed the "screen" section under depth 24 to the correct resolution.

Everything appears to be working correctly, but when I switch to a workspace other than my primary workspace I have no menu bars at the top and bottom of the screen. It won't let me right click to add them either.

If I right click an application and "move to workspace right" it shows up perfectly, just without the bars that are supposed to be there.

Anyone know how I can fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks alot.
