Default Stupid Macrovision

Every time I try to play a DVD in any software DVD player, I get an error telling me I can't have TV-Out devices play DVDs. The only problem is I don't have any freaking TV-Out devices! This has to be a software problem, because it's only popped up since I changed from the 3x.xx series nVidia drivers to the 4x.xx drivers.

Sure I could just switch back to old drivers, but that also kills my game performance. So to watch DVDs, I've been having to decrypt them to my Hard Drive and watch them from there...not very fun if you ask me.

So if anyone has advice on how to solve this problem it'd be greatly appreciated.

Update:

Hmm, I used to really like nVidia, but now I'm rather pissed at them. Found this interesting tidbit from nVidia on a PowerDVD Forum.

Quote:
The 41.09 and future drivers have more stringent checks in the driver to comply with the latest Macrovision requirements. If the TV encoder does not support Macrovision, you will get the "Macrovision Distribution Failed" error message or a similar message depending on which DVD software player you are using. The BT868 and Conexant CX25870 TV encoders do not support Macrovision. If your graphics card is equipped with one of these TV encoders, then it will not support DVD playback with our 41.09 drivers and above.
I guess it's probably more Macrovision's fault than nVidia's, but still...it disables ALL playback period, not just TV-Out. How stupid is that?

You could try combating that by using something like DVD Region Free to disable macrovision.

Have you tried another player? Not sure if this will help but you can give it a try. http://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_download.shtml
it's free and plays just about everything. I use it as my software DVD player and it supports everything WinDVD/PowerDVD support. I don't have a DVD drive on either of nVidia boxes so I do not know if it will work.

cheers

Does anybody know of a free program that will disable Macrovision? DVD Region-Free looks great, and I'll check to see how well the shareware works here in a minute, but I don't have 40 bucks to spend right now to purcahse the full thing.

DvD region free will fix your problem

If you read the features "# Removes analog copy protection from DVD's "
If you research the error you are getting you will find that it is an "analog copy protection error"

yea i know its an old thread, but no one confirmed the issue, and there is no other information discussing this issue.

I got an error in WMP with PureVideo not too long ago... I wish i took a screenshot, it was so lame... It said something like, there is a problem with your DVD player, video drivers, and the disc copy protection, please try updating your drivers... I said WTF and started AnyDVD, problem solved. Its $30, but it has always worked to circumvent those bull**** issues.
