Unhappy Burnout Paradise Confusing?!

I was really loooking foward to this game, but I'm a bit worried after reading this review. Burnout Revenge for the 360 is one of my favorite games ever, hopefully Paradise will be better than this preview:

One thing that was a little curious was how confusing the city layout will be when you start the game and how it'll impact early races before you've learned the layout of everything. When you start a race (by stopping at any streetlight and pressing on both the gas and brakes), a map pops up that shows you your start and end points, and then you're off with the game allowing you to get to the finish line in whatever way you want. This is great, except that the current navigation key is situated in a horizontal compass and isn't easily followed without taking your eyes off the road and looking up. A large directional arrow that you could see in your peripheral vision would alleviate this problem.

As well, until you know the streets, you can wind up going the wrong way pretty easily. During one race, we needed to be diagonal of where we were and could either keep going straight and make a right later, or make a right just then and then make a left later on. We chose to keep going straight and unknowingly wound up taking a curvy road down the coastline with no easy way to get off. Obviously, we fell way behind and wound up losing that one.

Burnout Paradise is a really hard one to peg right now as the game's entirely open nature means that we can't easily tell just how well everything will work. The concept is awesome, and it looks like Criterion is busy polishing everything as much as it possibly can, so hopefully it holds up to the series' incredibly high bar in the end.

Sheeeit. I've been waiting impatiently for Burnout Paradise to come out...Criterion earned some massive good karma with me thanks to Burnout 3 and more importantly Revenge, though the Crazy Taxi-esque sound of that blurb for Paradise has me a little worried.

I was already afraid that paradise was going to be a step in the wrong direction and this just adds to that fear. I'm afraid they're trying to apply the NFS Underground formula to burnout but to be perfectly honest, the open city concept doesn't even work good in underground.

Sorry, but ever since Flatout Ultimate Carnage came out some months back, I haven't even touched Burnout.

Burnout is a much better game than Flatout IMO, but I love both.

I think Burnout is my favorite racing series of all time, and especially Burnout Revenge.

I am also a little worried about Burnout Paradise, I like the straightforward design of the previous Burnout games so we will have to see how this turns out.

Yeah, I know. Just wondering how good or bad it is. Seen videos of it and it looks super lame but the demo did not let us do this 'showtime' crash mode.

Crash was my fav part of Burnout and seems they ruined it.

Aside, talk about a lack luster release. Like no posts on this game. lol
