Default Mitac 8252D, GeForce 8600m gt

Hi,
I'm having a problem when booting up on battery power, I allways get this error:
NVRM: Xid (0001:00): 34

when runing gl-117 after booting pluged in I get ~40 fps
when booting on battery power I only get around ~12 fps

This has been present with all kernels I have tested, standard lenny to the one I'm using now (2.6.24-rc2-git2)

Xid:34 often refers to an insufficient GPU power problem.

I see that you're using this option:
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "NoPowerConnectorCheck"

Does X not start without that option?

without it I get this:
(==) NVIDIA(0): Using gamma correction (1.0, 1.0, 1.0)
(**) NVIDIA(0): Enabling RENDER acceleration
(EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Your GeForce 8600M GS graphics card does not have the
(EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): necessary external power cables attached; X will not start
(EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): unless this is rectified. Please shut down your computer,
(EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): open its case, and attach the appropriate power
(EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): connectors. Your video card may have multiple power
(EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): connectors. If so, each must be attached to a separate
(EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): power cable. Please see the documentation provided with
(EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): your video card for more details. If you think you have
(EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): received this message in error, you may specify the
(EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): "NoPowerConnectorCheck" X configuration option in the
(EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Screen section of your X config file.
(II) UnloadModule: "nvidia"
(II) UnloadModule: "wfb"
(II) UnloadModule: "fb"
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
