I built my computer about two weeks ago and everything was working fine on it. Today I started getting system lockups and in my dmesg I have the following errors
Code:
NVRM: Xid (0001:00): 13, 0003 00000000 00005097 00000d00 3f800000 00000004 NVRM: Xid (0001:00): 30, L1 -> L0 CPU: Intel Quad Q6600 MOBO: evga 680i Memory: 2gig OCZ DDR2 1066 Video: XFX 8800 GTS 640MB This has only happened recently and I really don't understand why. I have attached two pictures of what gdm looks like after I restart X which look very weird as well and I have also attached the nvidia-bug-report.log. I haven't changed any software(I haven't done updates in three days) or hardware. The other weird thing is that nvidia-settings detects a CRT and TV hooked up to my graphics card in addition to my LCD even though nothing else is plugged in. Could someone please help me? Thanks, Athena Last edited by Athena1988; 09-18-07 at 05:03 AM. |

If it only started recently and you didn't change anything this are very probable reasons:
your PSU has become weak. Get a different one. dust your mainboard has some bad caps. your PSU has become weak. Get a different one. your current is bad. your PSU has become weak. Get a different one. . . . (without looking at your log ..) |

Thank you for your suggestion. I have another power supply that I'm going to test. First, I'm testing each component. I tested my graphics card with a different computer with the same nvidia driver. No errors. I'll test the power supply, and if thats not it. I'll look at the motherboard.
My current suspected power supply is the modular Xion SuperNova 600w. Version 2.2. |

600W is not much with your setup - and I never heard of it
![]() I am an enermax fan - to quote tomshardware 'no enermax ever failed our tests'... if you buy a new one, stay away from Fortron and Antec. btw, I like your xorg.conf. Nice lean and clean. |

Ya. It was the power supply. My testing power supply was 420W.
I'm sending it back and getting the Corsair HX620 620W. It got amazing reviews. Thanx for the help. I would have never suspected the power supply. |

Argh. It turns out that it was never the PSU. I think its the nvidia driver. I'm posting on another thread about that.
Well thank you for trying to help me. I have to say, I like my new PSU better than the old one, for what it's worth. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...32#post1385132 |
