Runs a bit too slow for my liking, first game that it is really a problem. I guess my x2 4600+ is getting to the point of being outdated for new games.

Other:
- A console command for scaling time in replays and single player has been added.

Does the above mean (taken from upcoming patch release notes) that gameplay speed will be adjustable? i.e. I can slow the frantic SP gameplay to a more elderly level?

Edit: One other question, I know deformable terrain (true deep craters) is only working in DX10 in multiplayer. Does this mean you get craters against the AI in SP skirmishes too or is it only in human matches?

I can't see smokes. What can I do?

I installed WiC on new harddrive and copied the saved game file to the new folder. And now I can't see the smokes. But when I start new mission, I can see smokes. I tried resetting the settings, nothing.

I played thru the tutorial on the default settings that the game detected and it was fine and smooth. I just tried to start the campaign and the image froze about 20-30 secs. into the opening cut scene (with the soldier being told he was in charge) while the audio played on. Hitting Escape a few times got me back to start of the game and even then it was shattering textures and wireframes all over.

Nothing is OCed on either my 3800 X2 CPU or 320MB 8800GTS (163.71 beta driver), so I don't get what the snafu is.

Nice I bet the quad core is helping out there. The benchmark is extremely CPU dependent.

Is this game a native OpenAL game or not? I don't know if my ears suck but sound was worse in Vista64 than XP.

@ zer0

How do you change the content of the second display?

If I enable it (works now, no idea what changed), it displays the megamap and I don't know how to change this.

Pretty cool game but not the revolutionary thing they were hyping all year. The graphics are pretty good but not OMG! spectacular. It's really the sheer number of units on the screen and the physics that are amazing. PhysX card support would have been nice, but who has one of those? The fire support effects are the star of the show though. Wicked fun!

I like how they have the cpu controlled allies fighting a huge war while the player is responsible for one little corner of the map. Makes it feel like a bigger war around you, not just army men in a sandbox.

I also love that they got Alec Baldwin to do the narration, but he did a crappy job. Why do these big name professional actors do such horrible voice overs for video games? It's like they do a bad job on purpose.

The SP is short but well done. You really get swept up in the war. It wasn't exactly Red Dawn, but it was interesting. It's really short though and there aren't that many units to command. I guess they're saving room for the inevitable expansion packs. Reminds me of Dawn of War, where the original game felt like it had units deliberately left out, then they released like 100 expansions for it. Maybe we get to fight China in the expansion. Hopefully we'll get naval units too.

My biggest problem with the game is lack of single player skirmish vs. the cpu. That's half the fun of these RTS games for me. I hate online RTS games since they go on for so long and you can't just leave to go to the bathroom. Skirmishes VS. CPU are standard for RTS games. It's sucks that they left it out. Maybe they did it to encourage more online play and to screw over folks with pirate copies.
