Quake engine is still my favorite. Maxed graphix at 10x 7 - game looks stunning with a - 1.0 LOD w/ Rivatuner. 2 Times AA.
nuttin but gibs!

Also still a big fan of starcraft broodwars.
I wish they would actually remake broodwars with a 3d engine =) that would be heaven.

System Shock 2. Great game!!! awesome ending.

Giants is fun, but the racing missions were absurdly frustrating.

That and I can't get it to work with XP.

Sure, they were. But at the same time challenging, weren`t they ? I mean, if the level can be played on the first try, you probably won`t return to it later. And most of Giants levels are hard.

That`s why i still live with WIN98 nowadays. Everything works there without any problems that all of my other friends face when they changed the WIN. Easy, fast and small installation size.
And they had the same problems with Giants, so if I can`t play my favourite game on new WIN, why spending money on that ?

Win98 is easy, until you can't open the control panel without the whole thing BSODing.

It's fast, if you don't mind rebooting once every three hours.

Small... no.

And no, I don't mean that they're challenging, I mean that no matter what I tried, I could not for the life of me beat the last one. And THAT is frustrating--it should have been a side quest or something like that instead of these main missions...

And I probably could get it to work under XP, I'm just lazy and only tried it once.

When programming in Visual C++ I`m used to rebooting every hour, but since it reboots in less than 12 seconds, no problem with that. Also Visual C++ loads everything in less than 3 seconds, so no problem with that except that I`m happier to work with freshly restarted Windows.

Oh, yeah. I remember now. There was one racing level with Delphi that was damn tough - I think I even had to play it at least 5 or 6 times to win it ! Yes, that ONE level was heavy.

When I`m thinking of it, did you stop playing Giants just because of that one level ? If so, do you know of a cheat ("allmissionsaregoodtogo") that enables loading of all missions of all 3 species. Although I personally discovered that cheat only after I finished whole Giants. But this cheat is handy when you`re doing Win reinstall and have to reinstall Giants. You don`t have to find old savegames, just type it in game and you can choose any level you want !

EDIT : I almost forgot, what`s your most favourite level to play ?

I just tried IL2 demo, it's great, best graphics I've seen in a flight sim, and runs a reasonable speed, unlike Micro****s Flight Sim.

Been hankering for some old school games so I have replayed the single player campaigns of Quake 2, and both mission packs The Reckoning and Ground Zero, now I am off to the original Quake Mission Packs, Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity and have also been playing Blood 2 - The Chosen.
