as mentioned in http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=98970 switching the resolution (e.g. by using krandrtray) also fixes the display...
-> worked for me (openSuse 10.2 x86_64)
(would be better though if this error wouldn't occur at all :P )

I'm seeing this bug in Ubuntu Gutsy beta that comes with drivers 100.14.19 from repositories. I Filed a bug in launchpad.net but forgot to search here.
I also witnessed the black window bug after opening about 18 fullscreen firefox windows at 1440x900 (I have a Geforce 6600 APG with 128MB)

Hi,

Look like i solve this bug by disable the "Sync To VBlank" option in nvidia-settings program (Section "X Screen" --> "X Server XVideo Settings" --> "Video Texture Adaptor" )

Note : I'm not a gamer

You will notice a kind of "tearing" in the screen when watching things in motion

There's a way to reproduce this bug with 100% probability: configure
X to use two screens. The first is DFP, the second is CRT. Run MPlayer with
vo=xv in the second (CRT) screen, than in the first screen.

After that movies on second screen will be corrupted. I'm able to restore correct playback via changing refresh rate for the CRT display: to 75 Hz and back to 85.

OpenSUSE 10.3 upgraded to xorg 7.3 using NVidia driver installed with one-click on GeForce 6600GT AGP.

I got this video problem and all the crazy colors while Compiz Fusion (git from CyberOrg's git repo) was running until I stopped doing:

export __GL_YIELD="NOTHING"

before loading Compiz. Now I just do:

compiz --replace --sm-disable --ignore-desktop-hints ccp &

I haven't had the video problem appear yet since running either with normal kwin or Compiz Fusion. I use KDE upgraded with KDE3, Backports, Communtity Build Service repos.

I do get:

compiz: Trying `/usr/$LIB/libIndirectGL.so1'

while loading, and when checking with ps ax | grep compiz:

compiz --replace --sm-disable --ignore-desktop-hints ccp --no-libgl-fallback

so apparently it's using Indirect without me asking for it.

Compiz Fusion works fine, as do games and videos I've tested so far. But perhaps something is not quite right?

The cause of this problem has been identified and it should be fixed in a future driver release.

That's good news - I am anxious to see this fixed. Does future release mean the next release?
