I already mentioned about LG GGW-H10N Blu-ray writer with HD-DVD combo in Blu-ray OR HD-DVD thread but I found it not yet available and very high price of $500-$740/480-580.

That $399/196 is really amazing price for Blu-ray writer, it has to be the cheapest I ever seen while here are cheapest Pioneer Blu-ray writer current sell at 260. I guess the price of Blu-ray writers and readers will fall much faster than I thought probably will happen in a month than 3 months. It will be a massive boost for Blu-ray.

If Blu-ray writer price will come down to near 100 or under then I will grab one for this xmas.

Oh wait, I noticed it use different model, the one I was talked in other thread was model LG GGW-H10N but BestBuy got different model GGW-H20LI. Maybe the newer model is cheaper than the other older model.

This is really more interesting...

I researched and found out that LG is release not one but TWO 2ND GEN BD/HD-DVD combo drives, the high end $399/196 GGW-H20LI feature 6X Blu-ray writer/HD-DVD reader and also the low end $299/147 GGC-H20LI feature 6X Blu-ray/HD-DVD reader.

http://www.dvd-intelligence.com/main...new_hybrid.htm

Found GGC-H20LI at BestBuy for $299

GGW-H10N = 1st gen

GGW-H20LI = 2nd gen

GGW = writer

GGC = reader

GGW-H20LI = lightscribe

GGW-H20N = non-lightscribe

wow, i just realized that 6x BD equal to 216 Mbit/s that almost max SATA2 speed.

I think the most they can do with blu-ray and current sata interface would be 8x, but at 288 Mbit/s thats stretching it a bit.

Well I just noticed that Best Buy now removed 2 links as both GGW-H20LI and GGC-H20LI are no longer listed.

Mb != MB

SATA2 has a transfer speed of 3000Mb/s, or 300MB/s.
