Default Xinerama, Xorg 7.3 and 100.14.19

Hi all

I had Xinerama working just fine with xorg 7.2 and the nvidia driver 100.14.11, but I can't make it work with the latest driver. I haven't changed anything in xorg.conf. Single-screen works fine. I have googled a bit but I could find any help. I will attach both my xorg.conf (the file is called xorg.conf.xinerama.txt) and /var/log/Xorg.0.log (produced with -logverbose 5), but I'm quoting the best part here :

[...]

I can provide more pieces of information if you think it's necessary.

Any help welcomed !

This problem is caused by the Composite extension being enabled by default. Future driver and server releases should handle this better, but for now you can work around the problem by explicitly disabling Composite.

Thanks a lot, it works indeed. I had commented out Option "Composite" "Enable" but explicitly setting it to "disable" did work.

Thanks again !

now I just notice that I can no longer get my mouse back in the main screen after I drag it to the second one, but I think I have read about it somewhere so I'm going to google a bit more...

Yes, that's a known bug in xf86-input-mouse. Try xf86-input-evdev instead.

unfortunately using the evdev driver changes nothing. It loads fine, the mouse work, but is still trapped if I drag it to the left screen... I've read there is a patch and a gentoo overlay, I guess I will either be brave and patch it manually or wait for it to be included in the main portage tree...

thanks again

PS : I'm attaching Xorg.0.log just in case... and here is the corresponding section is xorg.conf. But right, this is out of topic now...

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Configured Mouse"
Driver "evdev"
Option "CorePointer"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/event2"
Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection

well, I installed xf86-input-mouse from git :

$ git-clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/xorg/driver/xf86-input-mouse
$ cd xf86-input-mouse
$ ./autogen.sh
$ make
$ make install

and it changes nothing...

You need to run autogen.sh with the --prefix=/usr parameter, or else it will install to /usr/local/lib/xorg/modules/drivers, where the server won't be able to find it.

Yep, it works.

Thanks a lot.

sorry for starting a new thread about it (I will mark it as [solved] right away) I thought it might help other people to browse the forum...

I'm having the same issues, but having no joy with being able to get the xf86-input-mouse to work.

If I try git with the address shown below I get this:

[root@Desktop Installs]# git clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/xorg/driver/xf86-input-mouse

GNU Interactive Tools 4.3.20 (i686-pc-linux-gnu), 18:50:22 Sep 19 2007

git: fatal error: `chdir' failed: permission denied.

If I get the source from here:

http://www.t2-project.org/packages/x...put-mouse.html

I can install, but there is no autogen.sh

Oddly, I have another PC with a very similar graphics card (but slightly different) and the Spearate X Screen works just fine.

Many thanks for any help.
